Learning Equality
Each of us are who we are because of the traditions and culture of our families. The things we learn about each other are based on our history. Over time, we add to what we have learned. As our knowledge of each other grows, we assume facts that may not be facts.
We prefer to be with people who look, behave, and think like us. This is not necessarily racist or prejudice. It is what is common among societies. This behavior occurs across the planet. We learn to separate ourselves by skin color, age, education, class, gender, eye color, hair color and type, and many more.
We bring our beliefs to every situation including work, play, relationships, and life in general. As these behaviors become second nature, our inability or unwillingness promotes inequality.
We are all human beings. The superficial things we use to classify. each other is damaging. We need to see and value each other because we are human beings and decent people and not the color of our skin or the accent in our voices.
NASITC offers a tool..Learning Equality. This services helps families, individuals, and organizations learn how to unpack our beliefs and have comfortable and uncomfortable conversation about humans.
Psychological safety is a component of DEI. NASITC believes that when people are unheard and unseen, they are unsafe in that environment. NASITC believes if we understand each other and believe in the best of each other, we have the greatest chance of achieving humanity.
